| Each core lesson is an in-depth learning module that
provides examples, explanations, definitions, illustrations, a summary and
exercises. Some definitions are viewed in small pop-up windows, activated
by links. This unique design gives students the option of viewing terms
that may be unfamiliar to them. Definitions that are the object of
instruction are contained in the body of a lesson. At the end of each
core lesson there is a summary and 5 exercises. Students will be able to
apply the concepts presented in each lesson by solving these problems. |
| For each unit of lessons there is a page of interactive practice
exercises. These are 10 review problems for independent practice for
use by students of all abilities. Students will be able to synthesize and
apply the skills learned in the core lessons by solving these problems.
For each unit there is also a page of interactive challenge exercises
with 10 advanced problems. Students will be able to apply the concepts
presented in the unit and hone their problem-solving skills. Educators and
parents can use our practice and challenge exercises as interactive
worksheets or as assessment tools. |
| Whenever possible, exercises are drawn from the real world. Each set of
exercises provides students with immediate feedback. However, detailed
exercise solutions have been included for those students who need
step-by-step solutions. |
| For each unit, there is a corresponding set of crossword puzzles.
There are interactive crosswords with 3 levels of difficulty. A printable
version of each crossword puzzle is also provided as well as solutions for
all puzzles. Our crosswords allow students to hone their math vocabulary
skills and provide interdisciplinary connections with reading and writing.
There are a total of 78 puzzle pages. |
| For each unit, there is also a corresponding set of worksheets
and answer keys. There are 4 bonus worksheets and keys on special topics
not covered elsewhere on this CD. In all there are 95 worksheet pages.
These resources are designed to be printed. |
Our interactive learning games
are unique and engaging. Each game is designed to be an interactive and
fun activity for learning specific math concepts. Games include Integer
Football, The Interactive Factor Tree, Percent Goodies, and Probability
Goodies. |
Our demonstrations provide
animated movements to illustrate specific concepts. Demonstrations
include Circumference and String, The Decimal Dance, Geometry and a
Shoebox, and Perimeter and String. |
This CD was designed to have cross-platform compatibility for Windows
and Macintosh computers. An Internet connection is not required to use it,
but a web browser is needed. The auto-start mechanism is designed to
work on both platforms. However, Apple Computer seems to have disabled the
auto-start feature on OS X for security reasons. A manual start can be
done on either platform as follows:
- start your browser
- select FILE / OPEN
- browse for the CD page called "menu.html"
- double click this page
